About Mike

I either started off on the wrong foot or I'm the legendry rolling stone. Normally, a degree in astrophysics does not lead to a stint in Parliament House, public relations, the diving industry and a backpacker hostel - but that's what happened to me. I'm now retired in the sense that I no longer need to work for a living and that gives me time for travelling and writing. My messy life has provided a lot of material for my novels, which are mystery thrillers. I like subtle plots with a lot of action. My latest, Curtin Express, is based in Canberra and the wilds of northern Australia. For more on Curtin Express: http://shadymike.wordpress.com

China Travel – Nanjing

Travel China – Lhasa

Old Lhasa is still there. The ancient shrines and houses continue to stand beside the Potola Palace but the scene is changing fast. Modern steel and concrete buildings are sprouting up. I’m reminded of what happened to old Jerusalem.

Travel China – Huang Shan Mountains

We have all seen Chinese paintings of misty mountains with trees and temples hanging in space. It is a very old style and I used to think of it as pure fantasy. Then I went to China and was surprised … Continue reading
